Lose weight with walking

Losing weight can be as simple as you want it to be , its all about the maths ! You just need to burn up more calories than you take in (Unless you have a medical problem such as Thyroid) .Walking regularly could help you achieve your weight loss goals if you do it often and walk far enough.

Walking burns around 100 calories a mile ( varies according to bodyweight) so as we mention on this site a pound of fat is equivalent to 3500 calories therefore to lose a pound a week we simply need to up our walking by 35 miles a week ! Now this may sound daunting at first but with a bit of organisation and determination it can be achieved .

If we break it down it means we need to do an average of 5 miles a day so if we can do 2.5 miles in the morning and 2.5 miles in the evening then we can crack it and reduce our bodyweight by a pound a week . Now this might not sound much but over 14 weeks we could lose a whole stone ! Imagine how good you would look and feel if you were a stone lighter ? Of course you may need to buy a new wardrobe but surely that would be a good problem to have ?

So how to go about our new goal ? Well firstly if you have a car or a friend who has one then you could pick out a safe route that suits you maybe somewhere that involves the countryside or a park as this can also be quite calming. Plan the route in your head and then get in your car and set the odometer to zero and drive the route as near as you can , make it a circular route so that you end up back at home or wherever you started from . If its not quite 2.5 miles then you will need to tag on some more until you get a walk that is around our goal of 2.5 miles.

If you walk at a good pace then you should be able to walk a mile in around 15 minutes so you need to allow about 45 minutes for each walk. This walking is of course over and above any other exercise that you do during a normal day because our goal is to increase our calories burned by 500 a day. So you will need to get up 45 minutes earlier than you do regularly and factor in 45 minutes at the end of the day or you could split your walking into 3 if you can get out during your lunch hour.

If you have a dog it would help you achieve your goal and keep your pet happy ! This is a great way to lose weight steadily and guess what ? Its totally FREE !

Hi my name is Simon Dawes and welcome to my weightloss blog.

Hi my name is Simon Dawes and welcome to my weightloss blog.

This blog is really just a place for me to put down great weight loss ideas that I learn and should be a great resource for you if losing a few pounds is your goal. I live near Blackpool in the UK and sometime in 2011 I decided that enough was enough and I was going to lose some weight and shape up as I was in my forties and really didn't want to end up a fat slob !

When I was younger in my twenties I used to train in the gym a lot and as my business grew I found that I was just too tired and busy to train regularly. Over the years I put on an extra 2 stone and although people would tell me that I was still slim I just didn't feel right and knew that one day I would start training again and learn more about nutrition so that I could get in shape again.

My current goals with my eating regime are to get my body fat down to a sustainable 5% which at one time would have seemed impossible but with the eating systems and supplements and training systems that we have access to today this is now a possibility with a bit of work and dedication.

I use the Herbalife H24 range of sports supplements and have since getting great results become a distributor initially to get the product discount and now to help other people lose weight.
